Dr. Andrew Sheng
DMD, MPH“I chose to be a dentist because it is a mixture of many things I enjoy in life. Personal interactions and developing relationships are imperative. I like personal interactions with people, I like to work with my hands, and I like the sense of accomplishment when a patient is comfortable and happy with the results of their dental treatment.
“Patients should be treated like family. By being honest and caring during treatment, I develop a relationship of trust and respect with each patient, then everything else falls into place. Besides being happy with their dental work, I hope that patients leave my office happy and feel like they were treated well. I want the experience to feel like they were part of something that’s not just another dental/medical office.”
Dr. Sheng grew up in Palos Verdes and attended local schools. He completed undergraduate studies at the University of California-Berkeley and then earned his DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. He then went on to Loma Linda University where he earned a master’s degree in public health (MPH).
With many years of dedicated education behind him, Dr. Sheng is happy to be back in the area to apply the knowledge he has gained and provide quality dental care for his patients.
Among his professional affiliations are memberships in the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Harbor Dental Society, and Spear Institute for Advanced Dentistry. To bring his patients the latest dental technology, Dr. Sheng is an active participant in continuing education to become a premier dentist in San Pedro.
Dr. Sheng’s community involvement includes being on the board of the San Pedro branch of the YMCA and a member of the San Pedro Rotary Club. He is also a member of the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce.
When Dr. Sheng isn’t practicing dentistry, he enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He is married with two daughters and a son.
